چکیده
Exploration of poorly known regions of the Brazilian coast has resulted in the discovery of a new species in the scale worm family Pholoidae. Pholoe microantennata sp. nov. occurs at the Campos Basin (states of Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro) and along the northern coast of São Paulo State. It differs from other species in the genus because it has numerous large and conical marginal papillae on the elytra and two small lateral antenna attached to the distal portion of the prostomium. The family Pholoidae remains species-poor compared with most polychaete families, and it currently comprises 24 species worldwide. In Brazil, only three species of this family have been recorded.

A new fossil bristle worm (Annelida: Polychaeta: Aphroditiformia) from the late Cretaceous of tropical America
—A new species of aphroditiform polychaete, Protopholoe colombiana, is described from the Coniacian of Colombia, South America, increasing the number of species of this genus known from the fossil record to two. This is the first occurrence of fossil soft-bodied polychaetes in the Tropical Americas, and indicates that aphroditiforms were spread worldwide during the Mesozoic.

Currently, only two species are known in the sabellid genus Aracia: A. riwo (Rouse, 1996) and A. heterobranchiata (Nogueira, López & Rossi, 2004). The first was described from the surface of a Teredo-riddled log lying in 1 m of water among mangrove roots, in Papua (New Guinea), whilst the second was found on an organically enriched beach at São Sebastião (Brazil). In this contribution, a third ...

A new species of the pea crab genus Pinnixa White, 1846 (Pinnotheridae), P. banzu n. sp., is described and illustrated on the basis of four specimens from Banzu, an estuary of the Obitsu River, Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. All the specimens examined were associated with the polychaete tube worm Chaetopterus cautus Marenzeller, 1879 (Chaetopteridae). The new species is very similar to P. c...
